"My work as a musical activist brought me before audiences in a variety of venues, including churches, libraries, hospitals, nursing homes, and community centers. In the process of sharing music and interacting with listeners of multiple demographics, I found that I was using the guitar as a vehicle to paint my own story: finding work that I loved, accepting challenges, learning from mistakes, and ultimately, heeding a calling that has allowed me to utilize music as a force to empower my own future.

Briefly looking back, it is hard for me to imagine that my story began as a teenager strumming Taiwanese pop songs. Along the way, the crossroads of unlikely encounters and surprising coincidences paved the way for my improbable journey. Today, as a professional guitarist, I continue to be given the privilege of presenting my work, of sharing my story, of interacting with people from all walks of life, and of sharing those unforgettable moments in unforgettable places."

Boston Guitar Project was founded in 2005 by Steve Lin and the American guitar virtuoso, Eliot Fisk. What started as a student-led initiative based out of New England Conservatory of Music has turned into a community performance and educational project as well as a semi-formal concert series.

The Boston Guitar Project concert series presents young guitarists from all over the world, featuring eclectic programs and styles ranging from classical to jazz and from Latin to flamenco. The concerts take place in relaxed and intimate settings, and there is always time afterwards to speak to the artist. Each season promises to be an exciting blend of the worlds of the guitar.

The community performances projects have taken BGP to nursing facilities, hospitals, homes for the blind, community churches, local libraries, schools, and other public venues. In addition, BGP has contributed to many fund raising activites throughout Boston, thus increasing BGP’s role as a vehicle for public service. Through outreach, BGP continues to spread the love of guitar music to new audiences of varying age groups.
